Development Director - FAIR Wisconsin (Madison)

Fair Wisconsin and the Fair Wisconsin Education Fund are non-profits that work to protect and advance the rights of LGBT Wisconsinites.

Position Responsibilities:

Fair Wisconsin/EF seeks a Development Director to work with the leadership team to advance the educational, legislative and electoral goals of Fair Wisconsin. Fair Wisconsin has an aggressive, multi-tiered 2007 budget and this position would work to ensure goals are met. The Development Director would:

• Write and monitor all fundraising budgets
• Identify, target and develop solicitation strategies for new and existing major donors
• Directly solicit major donors through calls and in-person meetings
• Write all grant applications and follow up reports
• Work with the Development Assistant to ensure database and other fundraising systems operate appropriately
• Develop and implement a house party program
• Produce all major events including developing event income and expense budgets, recruiting and managing host committees and creating all marketing concepts
• Write all direct mail solicitations and ensure their timely delivery
• Maintain relationships with in-state and national organizations, political action committee and grant funders as well as manage all solicitation strategies
• Work with Executive Director to ensure call time is scheduled, managed and productive
• Complete research on major donor prospects and manage the prospecting system
• Manage Development Staff
• Serve as member of Senior Staff and be responsible for day to day management of the organization

Position Qualifications:

• A minimum of 3-5 years of fundraising experience in non-profits or campaigns required. Must have experience directly soliciting major donors for gifts.
• Proficiency in database management, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
• Familiarity with HTML is helpful as is with the fundraising software NGP.
• Past experience working with c3 and c4 and knowledge of legal distinctions helpful.
• Excellent writing, research, editing and oral communication skills and must be able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and commitment to high quality and timely work product required.
• Experience in public speaking and the ability to represent the organization publicly.
