National Finance Director - America Votes

Position Description
The Finance Director is responsible for strategy and oversight of all aspects of fundraising for the organization. The Finance Director will devise and implement fundraising plans, set-up and staff fundraising meetings and events, manage donor database and work with state and national leadership to organize regional donor councils.

The Finance Director will staff the America Votes President in all aspects of fundraising. S/He will be responsible for ensuring the quality of fundraising call time, meetings and events and the accuracy of call lists and correspondence with donors. S/He must have excellent communications and personal skills.

The Finance Director will supervise all other fundraising staff and consultants, and oversee AV’s high dollar and low dollar programs. Working closely with the AV executive director, the finance director will create and maintain and budget and cash flow projections for all fundraising activities.

Organization Overview
America Votes is a national coalition of the top grassroots organizations in the country dedicated to four unwavering purposes: expanding the progressive base, engaging voters and compelling them to the polls, creating an infrastructure and building lasting electoral power in the states and finally, harnessing the significant power and resources of the progressive community into one unstoppable force.

AV works to create ongoing state campaigns, build the strength of our partners, and expand our operations and capacity at the state and local level through sophisticated coordination and collaboration. We work with the largest progressive grassroots organizations in the country to develop innovative tools and techniques for voter contact.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. The Finance Director (FD) is responsible for the development and implementation of the finance plans. This requires the ability to identify viable fundraising targets, set priorities, establish realistic fundraising goals, and devise and implement the strategies for achieving those goals.
2. The FD will manage the President’s time for fundraising, requesting the time needed for calls, meetings and events in order to achieve fundraising goals.
3. The FD will schedule and execute fundraising calls, meetings and events with America Votes’ President. S/he must have strong organizational and communications skills and have the ability to manage details.
4. The FD will staff the President for fundraising. S/he must prepare call sheets and donor briefings, coordinate logistics and perform necessary follow-up.
5. THE FD must build and cultivate relationships with major donors. S/he will provide an invaluable link between the organization and its financial supporters and is responsible for the maintenance of these important relationships.

Qualifications:
• Applicant must have minimum three years experience in national political or campaign fundraising at a senior level.
• Applicant must have very strong communications skills. Writing samples will be required.
• Applicant must have experience conducting one-on-one solicitations with major donors
• Applicant must have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working and communicating with team members and major donors.
• Applicant must be extremely organized and able to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and details.

The America Votes Finance Director will report directly to the Executive Director of America Votes in Washington D.C.

Compensation:
Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, dental, vision and 401K.
