Organization Description: The Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) was established in 1999 to promote democratic debate on the most important economic and social issues that affect people’s lives. It is an independent nonpartisan think tank based in Washington, DC. CEPR functions as an economic “truth squad,” conducting professional
research and getting it out to the media, policy-makers, and advocates.

Job Description: The Program Assistant is responsible for a variety of important duties within the organization. He/She will play a lead role in daily tasks, such as designing and maintaining content on the CEPR website, and conducting Nexis searches or web searches for information as requested by research staff. He/She will also prepare documents for publication which includes proofreading and formatting papers, letters, columns, and press releases for publication on the CEPR website and other media. The Program Assistant will serve as an email list manager which entails: formatting messages for mailing through listservs, handling all requests from subscribers, and updating subscriber databases. The job will involve managing and maintaining databases as needed. The Program Assistant will assist CEPR staff in fundraising and development activities, such as editing and preparing grant proposals and reports, processing donations, and maintaining fundraising files as needed. He/She will also assist in arranging meetings or conferences, serve as a back-up to the office
manager, and perform other miscellaneous duties as required.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent background. Experience with website content management systems, email blasting programs, publication layout/design, and word processing, spreadsheet, and database software preferred. Ability to handle multiple projects in fast-paced environment, ability to work independently and with team, good written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and sense of humor necessary.

Position Responsibilities:

Fair Wisconsin/EF seeks a Development Director to work with the leadership team to advance the educational, legislative and electoral goals of Fair Wisconsin. Fair Wisconsin has an aggressive, multi-tiered 2007 budget and this position would work to ensure goals are met. The Development Director would:

• Write and monitor all fundraising budgets
• Identify, target and develop solicitation strategies for new and existing major donors
• Directly solicit major donors through calls and in-person meetings
• Write all grant applications and follow up reports
• Work with the Development Assistant to ensure database and other fundraising systems operate appropriately
• Develop and implement a house party program
• Produce all major events including developing event income and expense budgets, recruiting and managing host committees and creating all marketing concepts

Position Qualifications:

• A minimum of 3-5 years of fundraising experience in non-profits or campaigns required. Must have experience directly soliciting major donors for gifts.
• Proficiency in database management, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
• Familiarity with HTML is helpful as is with the fundraising software NGP.
• Past experience working with c3 and c4 and knowledge of legal distinctions helpful.
• Excellent writing, research, editing and oral communication skills and must be able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and commitment to high quality and timely work product required.
• Experience in public speaking and the ability to represent the organization publicly.

Information Technology Specialist - NY Democrat (in NYC)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Information Technology Specialist will oversee the daily technology infrastructure and user needs for a New York State Democratic legislative/political entity, as well as develop and carry out a strategic technology plan.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Information Technology Infrastructure Support: Provide hands-on support of desktops, network servers/routers/switches/hubs/cables and peripheral devices, both in-person and remotely. Support activities would include hardware installation, e-mail system maintenance, software installation/upgrades, data backup & recovery and problem diagnosis/resolution.
-Technology Procurement/Implementation: Provide strategic advice for acquiring and maintaining cost-effective roster of desktop and laptop PCs and other technology, working within assigned budgetary restraints.
-Vendor Management: Perform vendor management services for all technology product/service providers including hardware/software/services procurement, license management, invoice review/approval and contract administration (monitoring and review of expiration/renewal milestones).
-Project Management: Perform periodic technology project management tasks including work plan development, resource planning, progress reporting, scope/change management, issue
tracking/escalation/resolution, status reporting and post-mortem reviews.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
-College degree with detailed/hands-on IT support and project management experience.
-Extensive experience with Windows Server 2000/2003 (IIS, DNS, DHCP), Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems (Vista/XP/Windows 2000),
and the Microsoft Office product suite.
-Excellent written and oral communication skills.
-Programming (Java, Perl, PHP, HTML, AJAX), Microsoft Project administration, Sonicwall firewall and vendor management experience a plus.
-Governmental or political experience preferred, but not essential.
