Legislative Advocate - Natural Resources Defense Council (DC)
The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is a non-profit national environmental advocacy organization with more than 1.2 million members and online activists. We have offices in New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Beijing. Our staff of nearly 300 includes attorneys, scientists, policy analysts and educators working to protect the environment and public health through advocacy and education.
Position Summary
NRDC seeks a Legislative Advocate for its Washington, DC office. Working with the Legislative Director, the Advocate will lobby Congress on behalf of NRDC’s federal agenda, respond to inquiries from the Hill, and develop legislative strategy in conjunction with NRDC programs and communications staff. Other responsibilities include writing NRDC’s bi-weekly legislative newsletter, preparing legislative fact sheets, participating in coalition meetings, and outreach to new partners as needed.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
2-5 years of Hill experience, with strong emphasis on environmental issues.
Demonstrated knowledge of congressional procedure.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
