Associate Producer - National Public Radio

WEB1242 –This department has a goal of improving the effectiveness of promotion and fundraising efforts of NPR member stations. Position writes and edits on-air promotional and fundraising copy for NPR programs; interacts with member stations to maximize their use of NPR promos; interacts with NPR Communications division to position on-air promos in line with corporate objectives; interacts with in-house producers to develop style and content for daily and generic promos; and interacts periodically with acquired-program producers to assist them in developing promo content for their shows. Bachelor’s degree. Two to four years experience in promotional copywriting, preferably in radio; minimum of three years experience in radio production; public radio experience preferred; knowledge of Morning Edition, All Things Considered and other NPR programs; understanding of vertical, horizontal and other promo scheduling strategies; ability to manage multiple priorities; ability to work comfortably with a variety of people, at all levels; ability to reach deadlines on time; and directing experience desired.
