Chief of Staff to a senior California Democrat who chairs a subcommittee. The position serves as the Member’s chief policy and political advisor and manages the office finances. He/she supervises a Member staff of nine, interacts closely with the subcommittee staff and coordinates with a district office staff of six.
Position requires good managerial skills, ability to delegate and the capacity to keep track of and follow-up on dozens of tasks. Prefer a candidate who has been a Chief of Staff or Legislative Director for a Member of Congress or a senior aide to a U.S. Senator. Position requires at least five years of Hill experience. Candidate must be willing to work long hours and in pressure situations.
